K'naan is Somalian. He makes really awesome music. If you want like, a lot more personal info on him http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K'naan there it is.
He did the FIFA Wavin' Flag thing. He does a lot of shit with other artists, I've noticed. But his own shit is some good-ass shit.
The first song I was blessed enough to listen to by K'naan was Simple. It's got such an atmosphere to it. I couldn't find a version on youtube that wasn't live, so I would very, VERY highly recommend that you look it up and listen to it yourself.
I've only spent (a LOT of) time with his album, God, Country, or the Girl. Every single song makes me jam the fuck out and it's really awesome. I can't wait to get into Troubadour and The Dusty Foot Philosopher.
There is a lot of variety to what's on this album. Some songs are really poppy and dancey, "The Sound of My Breaking Heart". Then there's the cute and well-written songs like "70 Excuses". Whatever the feel of the song, the lyrics are never lacking.
Alright seriously go listen to K'naan.

I Can't
I turned on this song looking for answers. I was thinking maybe there was a secret I would hear somewhere.
It only thickened all that I'm choking on.
The love you don't feelWhen you're holding me

Loser- Beck
Because I think everyone needs a good, fat dose of this song every once in a while.
In the time of chimpanzees I was a monkey
Butane in my veins and I’m out to cut the junkie
With the plastic eyeballs, spray-paint the vegetables
Dog food stalls with the beefcake pantyhose
Kill the headlights and put it in neutral
Stock car flamin’ with a loser and the cruise control
Baby’s in reno with the vitamin d
Got a couple of couches, sleep on the love-seat
Someone came sayin’ I’m insane to complain
About a shotgun wedding and a stain on my shirt
Don’t believe everything that you breathe
You get a parking violation and a maggot on your sleeve
So shave your face with some mace in the dark
Savin’ all your food stamps and burnin’ down the trailer park
Yo. cut it.
Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
(double barrel buckshot)
Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
Forces of evil on a bozo nightmare
Ban all the music with a phony gas chamber
’cuz one’s got a weasel and the other’s got a flag
One’s on the pole, shove the other in a bag
With the rerun shows and the cocaine nose-job
The daytime crap of the folksinger slob
He hung himself with a guitar string
A slab of turkey-neck and it’s hangin’ from a pigeon wing
You can’t write if you can’t relate
Trade the cash for the beef for the body for the hate
And my time is a piece of wax fallin’ on a termite
who's chokin’ on the splinters
Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
(get crazy with the cheese whiz)
Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
(drive-by body-pierce)
(yo bring it on down)
Soooooyy....
?em llik uoy t'nod yhw os ,ybab resol a m'I rodedreP nu yos
[It's the Chorus backwards]
(I’m a driver, I’m a winner; things are gonna change I can feel it)
Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
(I can’t believe you)
Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
(Nlehh...)
Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
(Sprechen Die Deutsch hier, Baby!)
Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
(know what I’m sayin’? )

The AP Tour (WOW This Is Late)
First of all, all of the people were good, the music was all good. It was The Summer Set, The Cab, Every Avenue, Hey Monday, and Nevershoutnever. I went with my two aunts who are both in their twenties, and my best friend Alexis. Max was also there, but not with us. In fact, the only time I saw him was when I was passing him through the crowd...the kid's crazy, he was crowd surfing. :)
Anyhoo, Alexis and I started out back of the main floor. By Hey Monday we were in the middle of a huge mosh pit. No joke. I must have contracted 10 STDs that night because we were so squished into people. Other than the diseases, it was SWEET. We got so close to the stage, and I saw Chris Drew so closely. I almost cried. Really, I almost did.
Meanwhile (and I didn't know this until after the concert) my two aunts were chillin', drinkin', watchin' the Red Wings, buyin' David Strauchman a PBR. If you're not aware of who that is, it's freakin' the lead singin'...er, singer, of freakin' Every Avenue. MY GOD, MAN. Why wasn't I there? WHY. Anyway, being from Michigan, Every Avenue wanted to come back and do a smaller concert in July, which good buddy David invited the aunts to. They bought like 6 thirteen-dollar tickets or something crazy like that. I cannot wait.
Max met the drummer of All Time Low in the upper level of the Crofoot.
You wanna know who I met? I met an unidentified kid's shoe in the side of my head.
I hate crowd surfing -.- ...not really, I just didn't enjoy the 3rd degree concussion hemorrhage in my ear afterward.
Other than that fun stuff, the event was sponsored in part by Wonka. There's nothing better than walking out of an awesome concert with a whole bra full of Kazoozles. Yeahhhhh buddy :D

What is Love?
I haven't posted on here in a while, which sucks because this is my favourite blog that I have. It doesn't matter that it's nobody else's, it's mine. So put that in your juice box and suck it!
Alright, so I have recently written a song. It's called The Only One I Believe, and it's eh. I hope this summer we can write some music to it and spiff it up so we can maybe do it for battle of the bands.
Which reminds me; this summer we are getting a band together. We are thinking it's going to be Alexis on bass (electric and acoustic), Alyssa (sp?) on basses and guitar (I don't remember whether she can play regular guitar or just bass, I think both) and Stephanie on guitar, I'll be vocals and bagpipes, and uke if I'm ever cool enough to get one, and we kind of need to find a drummer a little bit. Weird, right? That's why we're going to ROCK.
Yes.
In other news, I recently got the new Nevershoutnever! CD and it is fantasticalz. It's called What is Love, and it must be the happiest music on the face of the earth. That is, in the sense that when you're listening to it, you feel like the happiest person on the face of the earth.
Christofer Drew Ingle went in a sort of different direction than his old stuff, which I've noticed has been quite unpopular with some fans. My personal opinion is that this new vibe with even more hippie taste is absolutely wonderful. The only thing I would maybe ever complain about is that there isn't enough of it. There are only eight songs unless you buy it on itunes, which I'll probably end up doing as well at a later date for the bonus songs. They are all pretty short, too, which sucks, but I guess that if the only complaint against an album is that there should be more of it, it's doing pretty darn well.
If you've got an extra ten spot, you should def pick this up. It's definitely the answer to the question: What is Love?
*side note* I am really hoping that he puts the songs that he did for the MTV live mini-concert on his next CD because they were also really good. I heard If You Go Leave The Key In The Mailbox one time, and I haven't been able to get it out of my head since.
So long for now, must be getting back to Economics. FUN :D...
no. :P
